Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My five year old had a rash on her upper lip and the lip itself is purplish. She has what looks like a bruise forming on one side also. She didn t fall. She wasn t hit with anything and she isn t allergic to anything. There are no sites on her hands, upper palate or feet so I don t think it s hfm.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of upper lip rashes which could be due to viral infection of upper lip leading to cold sore formation and it could be due to persistent infection of hair follicle due to certain irritation. The symptoms can also occur due to allergic reaction due to various cosmetic products or sun burn. I would suggest you apply topical steroid drugs to prevent hair follicle infection and take oral and topical antiviral drugs in case of cold sore. Apply petroleum jelly over the lips. Apply aloevera gel as well to maintain moisture of lips and prevent them from drying. Consult a dermatologist once and get evaluation done. Go for patch test, virus culture and blood test. Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration. Maintain basic oral hygiene and protect your skin from UV rays of sun.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
